Books I Have Written

by

Howard M. Berlin

Besides teaching and engaging in my several hobbies, I do a lot of writing. I used to publish scholarly research but soon grew tired of the "publish or perish" mentality and the biases in the peer review process. So, I turned mercenary and started to write for money.

I began writing articles for magazines for which I was paid a one-time fee. However this type of writing took a lot of time and effort for the little in return. On the other hand, writing of books seemed to be more rewarding. After writing my first book, The 555 Timer Applications Sourcebook back in 1976, I found myself eagerly writing other books. Most of the books were about electronic circuit devices and circuit design, but I also have written several books on investing, the financial markets, and the cinema. With a few exceptions, topics for my books are those where there are very few or no books already in print.

At last count, I have written 31 books (including revised editions). I have been fortunate that a number of the electronics books have been translated into several languages, such as Portugese, Italian, German, and Chinese, plus probably several unauthorized printings that I as of yet don't know about.

I also have opinions on a variety of issues. Many have been printed as op-ed pieces in local papers. Click here to browse.
